You will need your Google account and password, or the person in charge of the Google company account credentials.
- If prompted, read and agree to the Terms of Service
2. Setup billing
- Click the navigation menu at the top left of the page
- If you are new to Google Cloud Platform:
- Choose 'Add Billing Account'
- Follow the process: enter billing information and answer all required questions
- On completion, if prompted to start an interactive tutorial, choose 'Skip for now'
- If you have used Google Cloud Platform in the past:
- Verify and/or update your payment methods by selecting ‘Payment Method’ from the left-hand menu
3. Setup a project
- Return to the Google Cloud Platform homepage
- On the top bar, click the drop-down arrow for projects
- Click ‘New Project’ on the top right corner of the popup window
- Enter a project name and (optionally) associate an organization. Click ‘Create’
4. Enable Google Maps API
- Return to the Google Cloud Platform homepage
- On the top bar, select the project you created
- Open the navigation menu at the top left of the page
- Choose ‘APIs & Services’ > ‘Enabled APIs & services’
- On the APIs & Services page
- In the search bar, enter Maps JavaScript API
- Choose the result: Maps JavaScript API
- Click the blue Enable button
- You will be redirected to the Google Maps Platform API page
5. Get your API key
- On the Google Maps Platform API page - Maps JavaScript API should be listed in the Enabled APIs section
- Click ‘Credentials’ on the left-hand menu bar.
- At the top of the Credentials page, click the ‘Create Credentials’ link, and choose API key
- Copy/Paste the API key into the text box at the top of this page, and click ‘Save’ on the green menu bar
