Google Maps Integration Setup

Requirements

You will need your Google account and password, or the person in charge of the Google company account credentials.


1. Sign in to Google Cloud Platform with a Google Account

  • If prompted, read and agree to the Terms of Service

2. Setup billing

  • Click the navigation menu at the top left of the page
    • Choose 'Billing'
  • If you are new to Google Cloud Platform:
    • Choose 'Add Billing Account'
    • Follow the process: enter billing information and answer all required questions
    • On completion, if prompted to start an interactive tutorial, choose 'Skip for now'
  • If you have used Google Cloud Platform in the past:
    • Verify and/or update your payment methods by selecting ‘Payment Method’ from the left-hand menu

3. Setup a project

  • Return to the Google Cloud Platform homepage
  • On the top bar, click the drop-down arrow for projects
  • Click ‘New Project’ on the top right corner of the popup window
  • Enter a project name and (optionally) associate an organization. Click ‘Create’

4. Enable Google Maps API

  • Return to the Google Cloud Platform homepage
  • On the top bar, select the project you created
  • Open the navigation menu at the top left of the page
    • Choose ‘APIs & Services’ > ‘Enabled APIs & services’
  • On the APIs & Services page
    • In the search bar, enter Maps JavaScript API
    • Choose the result: Maps JavaScript API
    • Click the blue Enable button
    • You will be redirected to the Google Maps Platform API page

5. Get your API key

  • On the Google Maps Platform API page - Maps JavaScript API should be listed in the Enabled APIs section
  • Click ‘Credentials’ on the left-hand menu bar.
  • At the top of the Credentials page, click the ‘Create Credentials’ link, and choose API key
  • Copy/Paste the API key into the text box at the top of this page, and click ‘Save’ on the green menu bar
